We’ve all had bad days when nothing is going right. Maybe you woke up late to work or you have an event to go to that you have been dreading for weeks. Play around with new makeup looks and update your skincare routine. Make the hair appointment you’ve been putting off for weeks now. Notice how much better you feel when you spend time taking care of yourself and your appearance.
Of course, life is not all about how you look. It’s unhealthy to obsess over your appearance, but we believe in the importance in investing in yourself. Just spend a little time making sure the way you look is making you feel good about yourself, and if it doesn’t, change that! It is our job at Lookin’ Good Salon to help you look your best and be your best self. We look forward to seeing you!

It’s always exciting to try something new and get your hair colored, but in order to get the best results possible there are a few things you need to do.
First things first, keep your hair healthy and moisturized. If your hair is damaged, it is best not to get your hair colored to prevent further harm. Make sure you are deep conditioning and taking care of your hair in the weeks leading up to your appointment.
Second, avoid washing your hair the day of your appointment. We know it’s tempting to clean your hair before coming in, but hair color works best on hair that has not been freshly washed. If you need to wash your hair, do it a couple of days before.
Have realistic expectations for how long the process will take. If you’re just going for a couple shades lighter than your natural hair color, you may only be in the chair for a couple of hours, however if you are undergoing a more drastic change, such dark to light, be prepared for a couple of sessions to get to the color you want.
Bring more than one photo to your appointment. The more reference photos you bring, the more accurate your color will be. Have a conversation with your stylist about how the color will look with your skin tone and how closely they can match the overall style you are going for. It’s important for you and your stylist to be on the same page.
Lastly, consider the upkeep. How long do you want to keep your new hair color? Upkeep will be different depending on if you go for a more natural color vs. a bright pink. Be prepared to do some maintenance both at home and at the salon if you want to retain your color as long as possible.
A new hair color is fun and exciting, but make sure to do your research and prepare for your appointment if you want the best results. If you’d like a consultation, we’re happy to assist you! Call us at (678)816-1654 or message us on social media.

Split ends. We all get them and they can be frustrating when trying to grow your hair out. Ultimately the best way to get rid of split ends is to get a trim, but if you don’t want to part with your hair yet, there are some great ways to manage your split ends and prevent even more from popping up.
Start by being gentle with your hair. It’s tempting to pick at a split end whenever you see one, but that can cause more damage to your hair. If you like to towel dry your hair, instead of rubbing it dry, use the towel to squeeze the water out. Roughly towel-drying your hair can easily lead to split ends and breakage.
The more stress you put your hair through, the more susceptible to damage it becomes. In addition to towel-drying, blow-drying your hair often is not great if you want to avoid split ends. Try to let you hair air dry as much as possible and if you do use a blow dryer, turn the heat down and avoid your ends. You will want to lower the temperature on your heat tools as well.
While there is no way to get rid of split ends without cutting them off, you can reduce the appearance of them by keeping your hair moisturized. Use a shampoo and conditioner that are specifically geared toward adding moisture. Consider incorporating a leave-in conditioner into your hair routine. A Keratin treatment will also do wonders for the health of your hair.
No one likes to deal with split ends, but knowing how to keep your hair healthy and getting regular trims will go a long way to prevent them in the future.

There’s nothing more frustrating than waking up in the morning with tangled hair. Detangling your hair can be a frustrating, painful process and wouldn’t you rather avoid it if possible? We thought so! We’ll share a few tips on how to protect your hair and keep it tangle-free.
Keep your hair up when you sleep. You’re likely to toss and turn while you sleep, causing friction between your hair and pillow. To prevent this, try braiding your hair up or tying it up in a bun.
Use a wide tooth comb or a paddle brush. If you’re prone to having tangled hair, it’s important to have the right tools that will get those pesky knots out. Start brushing or combing from your ends and work your way up. Your hair will be knot-free in no time.
Don’t forget to regularly condition your hair, especially your ends. Conditioning is critical to maintaining the health of your hair and keeping it free of tangles. If you’re looking for more products, also try a detangler if you find that your hair is getting tangled throughout the day.
Lay off the heat. Too much heat-styling can dry out your hair, leaving it more prone to tangles. Skip the heat tools for a couple of days or use them on a lower temperature.
No one likes to deal with tangled hair, so we hope these tips keep your hair as tangle-free as possible. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us on social media.

You did it! You’ve finally gone to the salon and have your dream hair color or gorgeous highlights. Your hair looks exactly how you want it, so now how do you maintain it? Getting your hair colored was a process you invested a lot of time and money in, so of course, you want it to last as long as possible. Keep your hair looking great with these tips:
- Wash your hair less frequently. We know. This is a pretty common tip that we bring up a lot, but washing your hair too much will fade your color pretty quickly.
- Use a shampoo and conditioner suited for color-treated hair. Going along with washing your hair less frequently, you will need to incorporate a shampoo and conditioner that is geared toward making your new hair color last as long as possible. Use a dry shampoo if you need to freshen up your hair between washes.
- Keep heat to a minimum. Frequent use of heat tools like blowdryers and flat irons are a no-no if you want to keep your color. Heat will strip your color much faster. You will also want to wash your hair in cooler water or use a shower cap if you like bathing in hot water.
You’ve spent a lot of time getting your hair done and we want to help you make sure your color lasts. If you are unsure about what products to use on your color-treated hair or want to know how to care for your specific hair type, feel free to contact us at (678)816-1654 or on our social media!

If you’ve been getting your hair done long enough, you’ve probably heard of Keratin treatments. They’ve become extremely popular over the last couple of years due to the amazing effects they can produce.
Keratin is a structural protein found in your hair, skin, and nails and plays a huge role in protecting your hair from damage. The purpose of a Keratin treatment is to strengthen your hair and keep it healthy.
A major draw of Keratin treatments is that it eliminates frizz, leaving you with tame, glossy hair. Keratin treatments make styling your hair much easier if you usually have a hard time with it because of its textures. It’s hard to beat having shiny, manageable hair right?
A Keratin treatment is a chemical process, so if you’re apprehensive about adding chemicals to your hair, whether it has already been chemically processed before or not, feel free to ask us about the health of your hair! We will never purposely damage your hair, so ask any questions you may have for us about getting a Keratin treatment.
Once you get the treatment, it should last up to six months. Make sure to limit the amount of times you wash your hair per week and invest in Keratin-infused products for at-home upkeep. We look forward to seeing you soon!

We’ve talked about how to handle limp hair, but did you know a primary cause for limp hair is oiliness? Natural oils are essential for the health of your hair, but excess oil can lead to greasy hair.
Oily hair can have a few different causes. Hormonal changes, diet and season changes can all impact the amount of oil your scalp produces. One of the most common causes of oily hair, however, is doing too much to it whether it’s applying too much heat or shampooing too often.
Shampooing too often will strip the scalp of its oils, leading too overproduction to compensate. If you are experiencing oily hair, try first scaling back on washes. Use lukewarm or cool water when you wash your hair. Hot water will stimulate oil production.
Using a clarifying shampoo will clear out product buildup, leaving you with squeaky clean hair. The right shampoo and conditioner will do wonders for your hair. Stick with products that are more mild and add moisture.
There are many reasons your hair may be oily, but a good way to find the root cause is to start with changing your hair care routine. If you have any questions or concerns about your hair, Lookin’ Good Salon is here to help!
